The Tectonics of Geopolitics reads the world the way a geologist reads a landscape. Deep in the core lie demography and geography, which change over generations. Above them moves the mantle of rents, elite selection, and displacement. The crust is the visible surface of states, borders, and alliances, and its changes are the real foundations of any era. Over it flows the ocean of trade, energy, and money, and above everything spins the atmosphere: daily politics, summits, statements, campaigns, and markets, which change by the hour and are mostly weather.
Every actor in this landscape works on several levels at once: what it declares, what investigators can excavate, what observers can infer from payments and movements, and what no one decides at all. When the levels diverge, the deeper one is the one to trust. The layers have no clean borders. Magma rises. Old strata are dragged down and remelted within a few decades, yet their chemistry survives into the next eruption.
The book judges no one. The problem, as it shows across wars, elections, sanctions, and pipelines from 2000 to the present, is structural rather than moral. Elites are not conspiracies; they are the survivors of selection. And every chapter ends at a fork, because the future is not a forecast. It is a set of branches, and the people living on the fertile slopes of the volcano deserve to see them.
Keywords: geopolitics, political tectonics, structural realism, Russia-Ukraine war, transatlantic relations, elite selection, scenario analysis
