VOLUME II - THE EXAMINED MONGOL
Who is a Mongol-and who has the authority to answer?
Across one hundred searching dialogues, The Examined Mongol places inherited identity, national memory and philosophical authority before the Mongol Agora. It distinguishes the historical Mongol nation from Mongolian citizenship, recognizes Khalkha, Oirat, Buryat, Kalmyk and other communities without reducing the nation to any single branch, and examines how borders, empires, Soviet classifications, religious transformations and modern institutions divided the Mongol world.
Yet this volume is not a nostalgic demand for purity. It asks harder questions. What was truly betrayed? Can cultural change become responsible becoming? Is Mongolness determined by blood, or renewed through memory, participation and obligation? Can Mongolia recognize the Mongols as its historical founding nation while remaining a democratic state belonging equally to all its citizens?
The inquiry moves from nation and religion into language, knowledge, education, family, freedom, economic power, justice and responsibility toward future generations. Its central claim is uncompromising: every human being is Tengirilig-equal in dignity and capable of reason, conscience, creation and responsible becoming.
No authority escapes examination. Not the state. Not tradition. Not the university. Not the historian. Not the believer. Not the critic. Not even the philosopher conducting the dialogue.
The Examined Mongol does not offer a closed definition of Mongol identity. It creates an Agora in which Mongols may inherit without becoming imprisoned by inheritance, belong without demanding the disappearance of others, and recover civilizational confidence without manufacturing supremacy.
The question is no longer only, "Who are the Mongols?"
The deeper question is:
"What must the Mongols become to create a dignified future for themselves and contribute once again to humanity?"
