The Guest Who Never Checked In

Chicago, 1958.

A woman reports her husband's murder. The hotel insists the room doesn't exist.

At 2:17 a.m., a frightened woman arrives at the Blackthorne Hotel wearing one shoe, carrying a bloodstained secret, and demanding the police.

Her husband, she claims, has been murdered in Room 614.

There's just one problem.

The sixth floor has been closed for eleven years.

When Detective Clara Voss investigates, she uncovers a disturbing trail of contradictory evidence, missing identities, hidden rooms, and records someone has gone to extraordinary lengths to bury.

Every witness has something to conceal. Every discovery raises another question. And the deeper Clara investigates, the more the case begins to resemble a carefully constructed lie.

The answers may lie in the Blackthorne's deadly 1947 fire, where official records tell one story and the evidence tells another.

Now Clara must unravel the truth before the people protecting it silence the remaining witnesses.

One hotel. Eleven years of secrets. And a murder built around the wrong body.

The Guest Who Never Checked In is an atmospheric historical crime thriller featuring Detective Clara Voss in the first standalone mystery of Curell Case Files: The Detective's Casebook.
