The current study investigated the efficacy of the §pilot program of the Family Conflict Intervention §Program. Interparental conflict has been shown to §adversely affect children s functioning across §several response domains including cognitions, §behaviors, emotions, and coping. However, few §programs are designed to enhance children s ability §to successfully cope with interparental conflict. §The program was designed to impart skills to enhance §children s ability to manage the deleterious effects §of family conflict. Several components and §resources from the Children of Divorce Intervention §Program (CODIP) guided the development of the §current pilot program. §Forty second- and third-grade children participated §in the eight-week intervention. Pretest and §posttest data were collected from children, group §leaders, and a subset of parents. Support was found §across multiple informants for the goals of the §program. The current pilot advances research §in the domain of child-based preventive intervention §programs by developing and testing a new §intervention that targets a broader population of §children from an array of family configurations.
