The Cost of Restraint

THE SWARRNNEXX ARE GONE.

Humanity won the war.

The peace did not survive.

For five centuries, the Terran Alliance kept the galaxy stable. Expansionist powers were restrained, weaker worlds were protected, and ancient rivalries were held in check.

Then the Swarrnnexx came and shattered that peace.

The war is over. The enemy has been defeated. But the ambitions suppressed by centuries of enforced stability are rising once again. Governments fracture. Alliances falter. Powerful factions move to carve out empires from the growing chaos.

As the Alliance's newly appointed Fleet Admiral, Jayla Werno faces the greatest challenge of her career. There is no single enemy to defeat and no decisive battle that can restore order. Old rivals seek conquest. Former allies pursue their own agendas. Every intervention creates new conflicts, and every attempt to preserve peace risks igniting a wider war.

Humanity saved the galaxy from destruction.

Now Admiral Jayla Werno must save it from itself.

The Cost of Restraint is the second novel in The Werno Doctrine Trilogy, an epic military space opera of fleet warfare, political intrigue, strategic conflict, and personal loss.

Victory ended the war.
The fight for the future has only begun.
