Young, privileged, and convinced that an enormous inheritance will someday secure his future, Anthony Patch sees little reason to build a life through work or sacrifice. Then he meets Gloria Gilbert-beautiful, magnetic, and equally devoted to pleasure. Their romance quickly becomes marriage, and together they plunge into a world of parties, alcohol, fashionable friends, and extravagant expectations.
