Stories of PM

Stories of PM, A Complete Primer of Preventive Maintenance

PM (Preventive Maintenance) is the primary way to ensure the reliability of machines, buildings, or other physical assets. In the end, even the most rigorous reliability techniques, such as RCM and PMO, rely on effective PM. There are many scholarly books on PM (such as the author's Complete Guide to Preventive and Predictive Maintenance), but nothing for PM practitioners and their lead hands.

In a series of interesting anecdotes, Stories of PM tells the PM person the why, what, when, where, and even sometimes how to PM effectively. The stories are fun to read and contain descriptive color drawings. Stories of PM tells the whole PM story, including the history and a couple of fun stories. Included are about a dozen best practices disguised as the rantings of a bug (really!).

What others have to say about Joel Levitt's books:
Hasan Avdić, PhD., Maintenance Manager at Banovic coal mine
The book represents a huge contribution to the research of equipment reliability in the exploitation phase.
This graphic novel is intended for professionals in practice, with the possibility of use in teaching, as supplementary literature, at the faculties where the subject of Reliability and the basics of maintenance in undergraduate and master studies are studied.
Authors such as Joel Levitt, who has top knowledge and vast experience in studying the subject matter, can write a work in this way. With its release, the book will certainly enrich the space of research in the maintenance field, especially operational reliability, and I warmly recommend it.

Drago Frkovic, President of Croatian Maintenance Society, Croatia
Frankly, it is the best maintenance beginner book in the entire universe!

This work is part of a series: Elements of Great Maintenance Management
Stories of PM is the third book in the Elements of Great Maintenance Management series. The challenge we face is transferring basic knowledge to the next generation. Without this valuable knowledge transfer, our mission-critical systems will not do their jobs and will be challenging to maintain.

The problem is that traditional teaching modes don't work anymore. These kids read less and use Google or YouTube (and all the social media sites) for everything they need to know. The second problem is that they will learn the complicated stuff, but they miss the fundamentals (which are boring and there is no screen!) of maintenance and reliability.

We will cover fundaments of maintenance. Topics will be covered in an entertaining way to train the whole team. We will use compelling stories, humor, and interesting characters to keep people's interest and convey the basics.
