Hundreds of miles away, a Pennsylvania Dutch farm girl named Emmy is growing up fluent in the one thing her family needs most: the English world closing in around them. When a runaway boy collapses in her father's cornfield, it falls to her to become the bridge between two languages, two families, and two ways of surviving a country that wants them both to disappear quietly.

What follows is a story of inheritance - not of land or money, but of the harder thing: the will to keep going when everything else has been stripped away. Told across generations, from a Lakota grandfather's last lessons to a Great Depression-era farm kitchen to the trenches of the Meuse-Argonne, Sown in the Soul follows one family's refusal to let history finish what it started.
