Sharing the Dharma: 10‑Minute Dharma Talks for American Zen Sanghas offers eighteen concise, powerful reflections designed for the realities of modern practice. In contemporary zendos, secular meditation centers, and digital sanghas, teachers face a constant challenge: how to present authentic Buddhist teachings in a format that respects time while still opening the door to deep reflection and direct realization. Traditional commentaries can feel too dense for short practice periods, while surface‑level mindfulness often strips away the psychological frameworks essential to liberation.

Developed by ordained Bodhisattva Zen Priest Min'ui Maitri, this manual provides a clear, modular blueprint for delivering foundational Dharma without academic heaviness. Each topic appears in a matching pair:

• Tactical Dharma Talk Outline - A scannable, time‑stamped structure with thematic groupings, mnemonic devices, and practice pointers, allowing facilitators to offer a complete talk under real‑world time pressure.

• Full Narrative Commentary - A complete teaching written in the rhythm of oral transmission, expanding each theme with modern examples, psychological insight, and practical application.

The book unfolds across six progressive parts that mirror a practitioner's journey:

Part 1: Foundations of the Path - The life of Buddha Gotama, the Four Noble Truths, and the Noble Eightfold Path. Part 2: The Anatomy of Experience - How the mind constructs reality through the Six Senses, the Five Skandhas, and the 12‑Link Chain of Dependent Origination. Part 3: The Roots of Delusion & Karma - Dukkha, the Three Poisons, and the true nature of Karma. Part 4: The Heart of Mahāyāna & Zen - Śūnyatā, the Heart Sutra, Don't‑Know Mind, and the precision of koan study. Part 5: The Bodhisattva Vow in Action - The influence of the feminine in the Buddha's life, the five great Bodhisattvas, cultivating Bodhicitta, and the Four Great Vows. Part 6: Zen and Our Modern World - The Six Realms of Existence and the unified path of mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom.

The authority of this work arises from the author's lived experience. Min'ui Maitri first encountered Buddhism in 1992, later serving as a U.S. diplomat in Southeast Asia. After surviving the trauma of the 2002 Bali bombings, he turned to intensive meditation to heal severe PTSD, eventually finding lasting transformation within Zen. Ordained as a Novice Zen Priest in 2017 and a Bodhisattva Zen Priest in 2023, he now lives and teaches in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Sharing the Dharma is built for real‑time teaching under pressure. Readers will find memorable cognitive tools such as the "VISA LEt eM C(see)" mnemonic for the Eightfold Path, the Four Clusters of Dependent Origination, the three‑step alchemical sequence ("Name it, feel it, soften it"), and Zen Master Seung Sahn's operational turning phrase, "How may I help you?"

Avoiding both esoteric abstraction and sterile dogmatism, this book offers a vibrant, practical map for meeting the world with clarity, compassion, and liberated action. It is an essential resource for teachers, practice leaders, and anyone seeking to bring the ancient streams of Zen into the ordinary struggles of daily life.
