Lange Zeit wurde ihre Erforschung in der Psychologie, Psychotherapie und Medizin kritisiert und ausgeklammert. Aktuell findet sie Eingang in zahlreiche Theorien und Modelle, besonders in Amerika und zunehmend auch in Deutschland. Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert und bewertet wissenschaftlich reflektiert qualitative Interviews mit zehn Personen christlichen Glaubens. Die Aussagen zu erlebten positiven und negativen Effekten der Religiosität auf die psychische Gesundheit werden mit anerkannten Theorien und Studien zu diesem Themenbereich verglichen.
