Practice to Mastery: AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Practice Exams contains twelve complete, original practice exams for the calculus-based AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism course. Each exam follows the current format of the examination, and each is followed immediately by its own answer key, detailed explanations, point-by-point scoring guides, and a score estimate.
Every exam follows the published structure:
- Section I: 42 multiple-choice questions in 85 minutes, worth half the score, including two sets of questions that share a figure, table, or description.
- Section II: 4 free-response questions in 95 minutes, worth the other half: one Mathematical Routines question (10 points), one Translation Between Representations question (12 points), one Experimental Design and Analysis question (10 points), and one Qualitative/Quantitative Translation question (8 points).
What's inside:
- 12 full-length practice exams: 504 multiple-choice questions and 48 free-response questions.
- Every exam covers every topic of the course, from electric charge, fields, and Gauss's law through potential, conductors and capacitors, DC and RC circuits, magnetic fields and Ampère's law, to electromagnetic induction, inductance, and LR and LC circuits.
- Questions are drawn from all six units in proportion to the published exam weightings and mixed as they are on test day, with no difficulty labels.
- A worked explanation for every multiple-choice question, showing the principle, the setup, every calculus step, and the numbers with units.
- A point-by-point scoring guide for every free-response question, with scoring notes, accepted numerical ranges, and a complete example response.
- A score estimate after every exam that converts your two section scores into an estimated AP score.
Calculus, as the exam uses it. Every exam includes at least a dozen multiple-choice questions that require integration or differentiation, and every free-response question does. You will find fields of continuous charge distributions by integration and apply Gauss's and Ampère's laws to densities that vary with position. You will compute potentials from line integrals and analyze RC, LR, and LC circuits through their differential equations.
Laboratory skills tested every time. Each exam includes an experimental design and analysis question. You decide what to measure and how to reduce uncertainty, choose what to graph to get a straight line, draw a best-fit line, and extract a physical quantity from the slope.
Comparable, repeatable practice. All twelve exams are written to the same standard and cover the same ground, so your scores can be compared from one exam to the next. Sort your errors by unit and by question type, repair the weak spots, and measure your progress on the next exam.
Every question, figure, data set, explanation, and scoring guide was written for this book. It is the companion to Practice to Mastery: AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Workbook, which builds the course one unit at a time, and it contains no question that appears in the Workbook.
Use it to sit timed exams through the year, to diagnose and repair weak units, or to run a final month of full-length practice before the exam in May.
