Lemon Drops on the Women's Balcony

An Unforgettable Collection of Personal Essays and Memories

Richard Fellman has spent a lifetime of over 90 years observing people, politics, faith, family, and the quiet moments that shape who we become. In this deeply personal collection of essays, he invites readers into a world that stretches from the old Jewish neighborhoods of Omaha to the streets of Paris, from childhood memories in the Rushishe Shul to a love story that lasted more than fifty years.

With warmth, wit, and remarkable clarity, Fellman reflects on immigration, tradition, marriage, loss, travel, public life, and the enduring power of memory. Whether recalling lemon drops shared with his grandmother in the synagogue, a wedding ring purchased in Paris, or the haunting beauty of places forever changed by history, his stories capture both the ordinary and extraordinary moments that define a life.

Written with the voice of a born storyteller, these essays preserve not only one man's journey, but also the character of a generation, a community, and a disappearing world remembered with tenderness and grace.
