Jüngste Erkenntnisse belegen, dass Games nicht nur einen immer größeren Stellenwert im Medienkonsum einnehmen, sondern rauch in allen Bevölkerungsschichten genutzt werden. Gaming ist zu einer Alltagsbeschäftigung geworden. Mit dieser Entwicklung wurde In-Game Advertising auch für die Werbeindustrie zunehmend interessanter. Um Marken oder Produkte in Games zu inszenieren, gibt es mittlerweile verschiedene Implementierungsmöglichkeiten. Diese Arbeit gibt einen Überblick über die unterschiedlichen technischen Darstellungsformen von In-Game Advertising und die Faktoren, die für eine erfolgreiche Implementierung der Marke relevant sind. Als relativ neues Instrument der werblichen Kommunikation und mit seinem Product Placement Charakter wirft es jedoch hinsichtlich der Akzeptanz und der Werbewirkung bei den angesprochenen Zielgruppen noch einige Fragen auf. Außerdem werden die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen, in denen sich das In-Game Advertising bewegt, thematisiert und beschrieben.
