Hearth and Helm

For over two years, the Meaningful Differences substack responded to the inspiration of Homer's *Iliad* and *Odyssey* and Virgil's *Aeneid* with stories, poems and essays. This collection comes from that work. Penelope tests the beggar's identity with wary hope: Is It Really Him? A man is nothing without the gods-or the family waiting at the end of the long road.
