Seit vielen Jahren bin ich damit beschäftigt, die im botanischen Garten zu Buitenzorg kultivierten und die auf Ausflügen gesammelten Orchideen vorläufig zu beschreiben und, was die Blüten betrifft, zu zeichnen.§Es erschien mir wünschenswert, mich nicht auf den westlichen Teil der Insel zu beschränken, sondern alle bis jetzt bekannt gewordenen javanischen Arten aufzunehmen, umsomehr als die Arbeit dadurch nicht bedeutend gesteigert wurde.§Die ganze Zahl der hier aufgenommenen Arten beträgt 562, 99 Gattungen angehörig; die Zahl der gut bekannten javanischen Arten darf also auf ± 500 geschätzt werden.§§Dieses wundervolle botanische Buch ist ein Nachdruck der historischen Originalausgabe von 1905.
