This book examines the modernisation of Tunisian ports from a quantitative, managerial, and public-policy perspective. It argues that Tunisian port modernisation must be national in strategic vision but port-specific in operational implementation. Drawing on official public statistics, port-specific descriptions, maritime logistics theory, and operations research modelling, the book analyses the differentiated roles of Radès, Sfax, Gabès, Skhira, La Goulette, Bizerte-Menzel Bourguiba, Sousse, and Zarzis. Particular attention is given to multipurpose ports, where cargo heterogeneity, berth compatibility, handling resources, safety constraints, and vessel priorities interact in daily planning. The book proposes a decision-support framework that connects port diagnosis, performance indicators, integrated planning models, and modernisation actions. Its contribution is to show how Tunisian ports can improve efficiency, resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness through evidence-based planning, port-specific key performance indicators (KPIs), digital coordination, and transparent optimisation tools.
