December Snow

December Snow: Bilingual Norwegian-English Christmas Stories for Kids is the first book in a unique 52-story reading system designed to help children learn Norwegian naturally through stories.

Set in Norway at the beginning of December, these four gentle, connected stories follow Maja through the first signs of Christmas: a light appearing in a neighbour's window, homemade pepperkaker, a lost red hat, and a snowy morning when the family must clear the steps.

Written for young learners at beginner A1-low A2 level, the stories use simple Norwegian, short sentences, familiar vocabulary and plenty of natural repetition. Each story gradually introduces new words while bringing back language children have already encountered.

Along the way, children discover small details of everyday Norwegian life-winter darkness, snow-covered streets, warm kitchens, Christmas lights and familiar seasonal traditions.

English translations are included alongside the Norwegian stories, making it easy for children and parents to follow the story while allowing the Norwegian to remain at the heart of the reading experience.

A collection of stories to read, enjoy and return to, helping Norwegian become familiar through characters, places, repetition and the simple pleasure of reading.
