Captain Sandbox and the Lost Puppy

Captain Sandbox is walking home when he spots a golden puppy running through a yard, all alone. A sign on a nearby pole says LOST DOG, and a shiny tag on the puppy's collar tells him what he needs to know: her name is Lainey, and it shows exactly where she lives. "Let's get you home," says Captain Sandbox.

The two set off down the street, past mailboxes and trees, until a big crack splits the sidewalk right in their path. Lainey backs away, scared to cross. Captain Sandbox kneels, his hands begin to glow, and with a shout of "Sandy save!" the sand rushes in and fills the crack, smooth and solid. Lainey trots across with her tail wagging.

Counting house numbers as they turn onto the right street, they finally reach a little house with a red door, where a worried little girl sits on the porch steps. When she looks up and sees Lainey, she runs!
