Awakening

Our Motherland, India, is a country with a glorious past. It had a rich culture, deeply spiritual in its essence. In ancient India, there lived sages endowed with profound spiritual knowledge. Their knowledge was expressed in our scriptures -- the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Gita. With the passage of time, however, this culture declined, and the country lost much of her spiritual radiance.

Today, we live in the age of science, where many consider spiritual knowledge to be unnecessary or obsolete. Science has indeed advanced and enriched our outer life; yet, it has brought about no corresponding enrichment of our inner being. It is precisely for this reason that we are living in a time of deep crisis. To overcome this, it is necessary to cultivate our inner world alongside the outer, to harmonize emotion with intellect, and to be aware of spiritual wisdom along with scientific knowledge. Despite the decline, India of the past is not dead; she is still alive. Even in the present age, we encounter great saints and reformers like Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and others who have shown us the path to revive the true spirit of the nation. They presented our scriptures in a fresh light, making them meaningful and relevant to the modern age. This revival is necessary not only for India but also for establishing peace and harmony across the world. 

The book entitled "Awakening" is a collection of articles, originally published in various journals, based on the thoughts and ideals of these great souls of our land.
