Working with Ethnic Minorities serves as a point of reference in working ethically, appreciating the nuances of identity and intersectionality, and building these in within clinical work. It gives space for individuals to tell their own stories, and endeavours to provide a psychological service that embraces these narratives in a way that is helpful to the growth of the individual and them living in the world.
This publication brings together a wealth of perspectives from voices within the applied psychology field, who draw from professional experience and research to support their explorations on working relationally with diverse populations.
Each chapter provides unique insight through clinical, theoretical and experiential lenses. From expounding on the importance of diversifying therapeutic interventions to considering how therapy is experienced from the perspective of a service user, the book emphasises reflections of practice and engagement. It encourages the reader to both challenge and expand their thinking, in addition to incorporating learning in practical and sustained ways.
