Building on a comprehensive collation of classical formula manuscripts from the Qin and Han dynasties unearthed in various regions since the 20th century and published to date, and drawing on transmitted classical formula literature from the Qin and Han to the Sui and Tang dynasties, this book employs the research methods of medical history and philology to present a panoramic review of the formation and lineage of classical formula medicine in the Qin and Han dynasties, seeking to outline the overall picture of Qin-Han classical formula medicine.

The book consists of nine parts:

Part One interprets the nature of classical formulas and the basic connotation of classical formula medicine from the perspectives of the formation of the concept of classical formulas, the examination of related terms, and the proposal of classical formula medicine as a distinct medical system.

Parts Two and Three take time as the warp and geography as the weft, thoroughly investigating the historical development and regional characteristics of Qin-Han classical formula medicine from both chronological and spatial perspectives.

Part Four examines the theoretical foundations of Qin-Han classical formula medicine, including views on life and disease.

Parts Five and Six conduct thematic studies of Qin-Han classical formulas from the perspectives of disease classification, diagnosis, and treatment methods.

Parts Seven and Eight focus on the study of formulary (prescription science).

Part Nine presents multifaceted reflections and discussions on classical formula medicine.

本书在全面整理20世纪以来各地出土且目前已公布的秦汉经方类文献的基础上，结合传世的秦汉至隋唐经方类文献，采用医史文献学的研究方法，对秦汉经方医学的形成与源流进行全景式的回顾，尝试勾勒秦汉经方医学的整体图像。

全书由以下九个部分构成：第一部分从经方概念的形成、经方相关概念 的考证、经方医学的提出等角度，诠释了经方的性质与经方医学的基本内涵。第二、三部分，以时间为"经"，以地域为"纬"，从纵横两方面，详尽考察秦汉经 方医学的历史发展与地域特征。第四部分，从生命观与疾病观等方面，梳理秦 汉经方医学的理论基础。第五、六部分，从疾病分类与诊法治法的角度，对秦 汉的经方进行主题研究。第七、八部分，聚焦于方剂学的研究。第九部分，对经方医学进行了多方面的思考与探讨。
