This book is the culmination of Professor Zhu Yongxin's years of research, observation, and reflection on the frontlines of education. It is also a collection of new proposals on education he put forward during the second decade of the 21st century. Grounded in China's specific national conditions, the proposals and suggestions in this book include topics that Professor Zhu has been concerned with for nearly 20 years, such as establishing a National Reading Day, reforming the college entrance examination (Gaokao) more decisively, strengthening life education, and promoting balanced development of compulsory education. At the same time, it also incorporates new reflections shaped by the distinct characteristics of our era, including the development of affordable kindergartens, the gender imbalance among teachers, Mandarin instruction in ethnic minority regions, the management of public schools, the chaotic state of foreign teacher employment, the concept of writers-in-residence in schools, and the issue of small-scale and micro schools.

The book is divided into nine chapters. It provides clear and actionable pathways for enhancing education in fine traditional Chinese culture, improving the quality of compulsory education, developing vocational and private education, advancing educational equity in rural areas, promoting nationwide reading, and building a learning society.
