In November 2017, twenty-four-year-old Sydney Loofe connected with Bailey Boswell through Tinder. What appeared to be an ordinary date would become the beginning of one of Nebraska's most disturbing criminal investigations.

Sydney disappeared after meeting Boswell for a second time. As investigators began retracing her final movements, a disturbing world of deception, fraud, manipulation, and bizarre beliefs slowly emerged.

At the center of that world was Aubrey Trail, a convicted con man who had spent years creating false identities and persuading people to believe extraordinary stories. Beside him was Boswell, the woman he called his "queen."

What initially appeared to be a missing-person case soon became something far more devastating.

Investigators followed cellphone records, messages, surveillance footage, financial evidence, and witness accounts to reconstruct the events surrounding Sydney's disappearance. Their investigation ultimately led to two separate murder trials, two convictions, and two dramatically different sentences.

But behind the courtroom proceedings was a much larger story.
