THE MAURITIUS PARANORMAL DESK: BOOK TWOSome wounds are buried. Some wounds are tended. And some wounds, if left open long enough, learn how to walk.Six months after closing the first threshold, journalist Aisha Ramdoyal has returned to ordinary life—or something like it. She shares her apartment with a father she barely knows and a daughter who was never born, both rescued from the darkness beneath the island. But the quiet does not last. A water-damaged notebook arrives at her desk, its pages carrying a warning in red ink: The fourth has no face. When Aisha follows its trail into a forest valley where a child was erased from every record, she discovers that some thresholds are not places—they are wounds. And this one has been looking for a face to wear for over a century. To close it, Aisha must confront the truth about her own erased past, the father who opened the door she just closed, and the impossible choice that awaits her in the eighth place: to become the next keeper, or to refuse the cycle forever.
