India for Indians

India for Indians by Chitta Ranjan Das is a passionate and historic compilation of speeches, writings, and public addresses that represent the political ideals, vision, and nationalist fervor of one of Indias most respected freedom fighters and thinkers of the early 20th century. As a central voice in the Indian struggle for self-governance, C.R. Das eloquently advocates for Indias right to rule itself, independent of British colonial authority. Structured around landmark speeches and reflections delivered at significant national forums and mass meetings-including the iconic "e;Hindu Mahomedan Mass Meeting"e; and "e;Barisal Conference"e;-this book charts Indias journey from awakening political consciousness to the concrete demand for provincial autonomy, federal governance, and national unity. Das confronts critical issues such as communal harmony, illiteracy, colonial propaganda, and Anglo-Indian claims to authority. He articulates the essence of Home Rule, not merely as a political objective, but as a manifestation of the Indian spirit and identity. Through chapters like The Message of the Great Swami, The Swadeshi Movement, and The Battle of Freedom, the reader witnesses a visionary leaders call for national solidarity, moral awakening, and youth participation in shaping Indias destiny. His emphasis on education, commerce, and principled resistance-particularly through non-cooperation-reflects a deep strategic and philosophical grounding. More than a political manifesto, India for Indians is a stirring chronicle of hope, defiance, and the call to self-determination. It remains a vital resource for understanding the ideological underpinnings of the Indian independence movement and the legacy of C.R. Das.
