Criticism and anticipation in philosophy - issues in art, difference, and technology

The concept of difference is the unifying thread and theoretical compass of the approach adopted in this book. As is well known, philosophy is the fundamental theoretical field within which this concept has crystallized. However, if difference permeates philosophy, it also permeates art and technology. Art only deserves its name and description because it differs from what is familiar and customary in reality. If movement, in a sense, is considered a form of technology-from the first movement of predatory beasts attacking their prey in nature to the latest artistic movements in a contemporary ballet-then technology, like art, is imbued with difference. Both art and technology are inhabited by difference and divergence, internally from themselves and externally from reality, without either being completely separated from reality. Perhaps this dialectic of connection and separation is what has led and continues to lead to the development and renewal of art and technology, and consequently, the renewal of reality as well. The concept of difference and its action/effect are what unite the triad of philosophy, art, and technology. This is because philosophy is the place where different forms of knowledge, rationalities, and methods of thinking meet for dialogue and exchange. But this is not the case as it was in the distant past. Philosophy was once considered the queen of sciences, but that title has long since passed. What is essential, however, is what results from this encounter the meeting of different forms of knowledge and modes of thinking within philosophy, for the sake of dialogue, exchange, and even conflict.
