afterlife of the Mamluks

This book, written by Ibn Zunbul al-Rammal, records the events of the war that took place between the Mamluks and the Ottoman Sultan Selim I, from its beginning at the Battle of Marj Dabiq in the Levant to its end at the Battle of Embaba, which ended with the defeat of the Mamluks, the end of their rule, and the execution of their last sultan, Tuman Bay. Ibn Zunbul al-Rammal is Sheikh Shihab al-Din Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Zunbul al-Mahalli al-Shafi'i. Ibn Zunbul is the best person to chronicle these events; he was a contemporary of them, lived in their atmosphere, and witnessed their events. He served as a counselor to the Mamluks, setting the sand dunes for them and revealing their fortunes in every battle. They took comfort in his opinion and believed his words. Ibn Zunbul died after 980 AH/1572 AD, but his book, "e;The Separation of the State of the Age and the Connection of the State of the Ottomans,"e; remained. It was later printed under the title: "e;The End of the Mamluks or the Confrontation of Sultan al-Ghuri with Selim the Ottoman."e; Historians considered it an authentic source of Egyptian history, and pioneers of historical narratives relied on it, weaving stories from some of its events that have had an impact on contemporary literary life, as Sa'id al-Aryan did in his famous novel "e;At Bab Zuweila."e;
